Frost Update

Major s-cracks across the bottom of each vessel. I am going to keep them to continue with the process and see what else happens. I think I dried them too quickly and I didn't have them in the damp cupboard at all. I will throw more next week and dry very slowly. Today I am throwing water pitchers and making some large altered serving dishes. Same tomorrow and then off to Edmonton to see the Weakerthans with my girls. I love road trips!

Did you ever solve the cracking or other problems with Frost? I throw porcelain too, usually Norma's from Axner, but was considering trying the Laguna Frost. What do you think of it now?

I haven't solved the cracking problem when I am throwing it. I set a bunch aside in a bucket with some water to try to make it a lot moister and see how that went. Then I moved on to other things. I still really like the Frost for handbuilding and as long as it is dried slowly it is fine. I throw with Plainsman P300 for my porcelain functional ware. Although it isn't translucent and not nearly as white as the Frost. Let me know how the Frost goes for you, I have heard that it throws well in different climates. Mine is dry and cold in the winter, dry and hot in the summer. Good luck!
