This is what I did today

My other ceramic life involves an apprenticeship with my friend and mentor Lee Bedford at Canyon Creek Pottery. We had a busy summer and now have empty shelves and a fast approaching Craft Faire. I really enjoy hand building and these cups are a lot of fun to make.

Big plate, tossed because in was too thin in the center.

Monday sees me in my own studio putting away the 1000+ pounds of clay and glaze ingredients that were delivered yesterday. My classes start Wednesday so I have to get the studio ready. Nothing made from my studio for the Craft Faire yet. First up, porcelain tea lights with wax resist as well as iron oxide decals. I will post photos when they are presentable.

My Etsy shop is open

My classes are full and my Etsy shop is now open. Only 3 items there as I need to do some photographing of the rest. The address is www.dragonflyclay.etsy.com
More stuff will be added in the coming weeks.

My house is very yellow

One final push on Sunday and the house will be finished. Well, the painting of most of the outside of the house will be finished. The concrete at the bottom will have to wait until next year, as will the old studio out back. Here are some photos of it almost done (we still need to paint the doors). My classes are filling up and everyone wants to learn how to throw instead of hand-building. I guess I see the beauty in both. This week will be spent throwing test bowls for glaze and organizing and setting up the final studio space. I am so close to being ready, it feels wondeful. Of course I have absolutely nothing made to sell and the holiday season is almost upon me, as well as at least six orders to fill. October first finds me head down in the studio only occasionally coming out to eat and sleep. I have purchased a laptop for the studio so it will calculate taxes and track my sales for me. I hate keeping books, so I am hoping that this makes it a little easier. I already hate my business cards and since they have the wrong web address on them I am going to have new ones made in time for the Christmas Faire. This is a very disjointed post, my apologies. Soon, soon I will have photos of new work. Fingers crossed.

Cups

Here are some cups that I had for sale recently. Most went at the summer market at the resort.

My holiday was wonderful. Now it's time to get into the studio and make stuff.
